HomeAid, along with Builder Captain Richmond American Homes have completed work on the kitchen renovation of one of Gabriel Homes’ townhouses. Through in-kind donations and other fundraising, HomeAid and its partners were able to cover 100% of the costs, saving Gabriel Homes over $8,600. Working with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and care for the residents, Richmond American Homes and trade partners gutted the kitchen and installed new granite countertops, cabinets, sink and faucet, flooring, and light fixtures. The team also addressed safety concerns by upgrading electrical wiring and reconfiguring the laundry room.
Chris Myrick, regional trade agent for Richmond American Homes, said that agreeing to lead the project was an easy decision: “There’s always people in more need, and as builders, we feel that if we’re going to be part of a community, we need to do good for the community. Our trade partners felt the same way, and we all chipped in and got it done. It gave us all a sense of relief, knowing how much we were helping people.”
